With my many years of experience as both a doctor and entrepreneur, I do know a thing or two about maintaining a healthy diet while running a business. A common question I get from budding entrepreneurs is: how can I hack my diet so I can perform at maximum capacity and give 100% of my efforts to my business? There are many entrepreneur diet trends out there, from juicing, to keto, to supplementing with nootropics. Employing just one of these trends will not improve your health and overall performance as an entrepreneur. What you want to do is establish a new way of eating that is realistic, aligns with your work schedule, and is something that you will stick to for life.

Here are some entrepreneur diet tips that will help you achieve a higher level of performance both for the sake of your business and for your body.

Entrepreneur diet tip #1: Hydrate the right way

The average male human body is 60% water, in women, it’s 55%. Entrepreneurs must stay

hydrated throughout their workday. Failure to do so may result in fatigue, dizziness, and confusion. It is recommended that you drink 8 cups of water per day to maintain energy and avoid the symptoms that come with dehydration. If you can afford to buy spring water rich in minerals, this is the most ideal. Coconut water and vegetable juices are also good options as they provide essential vitamins and minerals as well as hydration.

Entrepreneur diet tip #2: Regulate your blood sugar

Snacks high in sugar like cookies, cakes, and soda will make you energized at the moment but afterward, you might experience a big crash in your energy. I recommend that entrepreneurs avoid foods high in sugar and instead focus on foods that are high in protein and fat. Foods like whole grain bread, legumes, nuts, and fruits though technically a carb, help to balance blood sugar and keep your energy levels consistent throughout the day. On the other hand, food items like white bread, white sugar, and candy do not have any fiber or protein to balance out the hit of sugar, so these should be avoided.

Entrepreneur diet tip #3: Try Intermittent fasting

If you are a male entrepreneur, intermittent fasting could be very beneficial to both your work schedule and your health. To do intermittent fasting you only eat during an 8-hour window. So, you will fast for 16 hours and then eat for 8. This might mean waiting until noon to eat breakfast and stopping eating by eight at night. Intermittent fasting has been found to lower inflammation, aid in weight loss, and increase mental performance. This type of diet is not recommended for women as fasting for too long may affect hormones.

Trends can only get you so far. When you choose a diet that is healthy, supports your schedule as an entrepreneur and gives you enough energy to conquer your work day, you can’t help but succeed
